In Ocala and the surrounding areas of Florida, there are inherent dangers on the road. Distracted driving, drunk driving, recklessness, negligence – all can be the catalyst for an auto accident with injuries and fatalities. An understated reason for accidents to occur is if a driver is incapacitated. This could be due to a medical issue or it might simply be because of fatigue. A recent multi-vehicle collision is believed to have been due to the driver experiencing a problem of this kind.
Witnesses saw the driver having issues before the crash
Four people were injured and hospitalized after a mid-afternoon auto accident involving five vehicles. According to witnesses, the 57-year-old male driver of a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck seemed to be suffering from an episode. His vehicle subsequently rear-ended a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by an 84-year-old man with his 75-year-old wife as a passenger. The Hyundai then rear-ended a 2016 Buick Encore driven by a 19-year-old female. That vehicle rear-ended a Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 29-year-old woman. It crashed into the rear of another Hyundai Santa Fe. The man who initiated the series of crashes was airlifted to the hospital. The male driver of the first Hyundai and his wife were both taken to the hospital. The 19-year-old was also hospitalized. No one else suffered injuries requiring hospitalization.
Rear-end accidents can cause unique and troublesome injuries
Being in a rear-end auto accident can cause certain types of injuries. Some are not immediately known even if the victim had medical treatment in its immediate aftermath. Whiplash, neck pain, spinal cord damage, brain trauma – these are just some of the frequent problems that come up when a person has been hit from behind in a car accident. People can quickly discover that they are accumulating major medical bills, are having trouble getting back to work, and are not contributing to their home life as they once did. Compensation could be needed to make ends meet and cover for all that was lost.
Legal Assistance May Be Critical
To ensure that the injuries are treated and the victims are protected, it is important to consider all the potential damage that could have been done and understand how it can negatively impact them personally and financially. An experienced and empathetic legal professional who understands auto accident cases may provide wide-ranging assistance with moving forward. Those who were hurt in this multi-car accident should be cognizant of their rights. This is true for the teen who was hurt and the elderly people who suffered injuries. Calling for a consultation can provide information and guidance on what steps to take.
